Cermaliz Ruiz was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She obtained a Bachelor's degree in Arts and a minor in History from the University of Puerto Rico.
She moved to Oregon in 2001 with my husband Jesus “Chu” Narvaez. They established in Banks, where they have raised my now adult “kids”, Camila who attends Portland State University, and Jesus Emilio, who is an engineer.
She started working in the Banks School District in 2007, first as a substitute and then as an Instructional Assistant. In 2013, she worked at Visitation Catholic School as an Aid in the Kindergarten classroom. In 2018, she had the opportunity to start teaching Spanish at Visitation Catholic School, where she will continue to teach, while simultaneously beginning her new journey at St. Francis, where she will continue spreading the joy of learning a second language.
During her free time, Mrs. Ruiz enjoys spending time with her family, shopping, and dancing.
