“I can honestly say that the reason St. Francis of Assisi is thriving today, is due to the commitment made by the people of Roy long before I came to Catholic education. In other words, it is a single-minded belief and conviction that this Roy parish has embraced that education of our youth is its mission.
I have seen it with my very own eyes from the financial support and commitment that goes above and beyond what is expected whether it is through the Parish Dinner, the monthly second collections in Roy, and various other fundraisers supporting tuition assistance such as the annual school auction.
I have heard this commitment verbalized in Finance/Administrative council and School Advisory council meetings from members who are not only passionate about Catholic education, but are shrewd and creative in finding solutions within the budget to maximize our resources.
I have witnessed the real sacrifice of parents, teachers, and volunteers whether it is financially or time and talent. All these decisions are made in order to keep the school doors open. It is no different from a family working together to do what is necessary by making difficult sacrifices in order to keep the family together. Without a doubt, WE ARE A FAMILY in Roy.
But there is another component that is necessary to maintain these school doors open. It not only requires financial support, sacrifices, and fiscal discipline, but enrollment. Currently, St. Francis’ enrollment is 88. The rule of thumb is that the incoming kindergarten class MUST at least equal, and hopefully exceed the outgoing 8th grade graduating class.
I am inviting those of you with school aged children, or if you know family members, friends or neighbors who have school aged children with any interest in Catholic education, to discover or perhaps rediscover the hidden treasure of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School by either attending or inviting them to the many school/Parish programs and events:
I assure you all, when you or your guest attend one of these events, you will experience this unique family relationship as you encounter parishioners, parents, teachers, and volunteers who are committed to the mission of Catholic Education for our youth and in turn be as inspired as I and as Archbishop Vlazny has observed of the FAMILY that WE ARE in Roy.
Come be a part of it today!”
