St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church
Dear Parishioners,
On May 15, 2019 we met as a parish to discuss the possibility of a new Parish Community Center and Gym. There was a very strong interest and support on this project. As a result, with private donations, we contacted a law firm, Jordan Ramis P.C. and Brittell Architecture to begin the process with Washington County Land Use Office to receive permission for new construction on our campus.
We were able to complete all the steps in the process and were given a hearing date with the County scheduled for May 21, 2020. Unfortunately, due to the events of COVID-19, the final hearing was rescheduled for June 18, 2020. As I expressed to the land use hearing officer, I am grateful for the opportunity before the parish and school community of the modernized gym space for our physical education and performing arts curriculum as well as a space for fellowship and events for the parish.
We had a very successful hearing despite many of our school families and parishioners having to attend via zoom meeting to represent our cheering section. We received great support from those who gave testimony that confirmed our community’s need for such a facility that has been long overdue.
With our approval from the County, the next step is to begin final design drawings and plans that will be reviewed by the Archdiocese Building Commission. In conjunction with the design process, we will start fundraising, grant writing, and preconstruction prep work as well. Be Safe and Stay Healthy!
Blessings,
